Andy Stanley Plans to Step Down as North Point Ministries Senior Pastor in 2027

Andy Stanley told North Point Ministries on Sunday, Oct. 18, that he plans to step down as senior pastor in 2027, according to WSB-TV. He recommended executive director Joel Thomas as his successor; congregation vote results are expected Nov. 1, and if approved Thomas becomes senior pastor on Jan. 1, 2027, while Stanley stays lead pastor of North Point Community Church until May 2027.

Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals

North Point is an eight-campus church network based in Alpharetta, and a planned leadership handoff there touches tens of thousands of metro Atlanta families and the North Fulton community.
