AJC: 5.5 Million Square Feet of Metro Atlanta Office Space Removed or Evaluated for Conversion Since 2020

An Atlanta Journal-Constitution analysis found more than 5.5 million square feet of metro Atlanta office space has been removed or evaluated for conversion since 2020, with about one-third of metro office space vacant or available for sublease. No new office space is under construction in Atlanta for the first time since 2009, the AJC reports.

Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals

Office vacancy shapes downtown's future, lease options for Atlanta businesses and where new housing can come from; conversions such as 41 Marietta St. (120 apartments) and the planned 625 homes at 2 Peachtree show what is and is not working.
