The Stitch Shows New Renderings as Phase One Street Work Is Set for 2027

Atlanta Downtown Stitch Inc. unveiled new renderings of The Stitch, downtown's highway-capping project, on Oct. 8 at a summit called You Are the Thread at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, Urbanize Atlanta reports. Phase One construction is set to begin in 2027, starting with street improvements on Ralph McGill Boulevard, Peachtree Street and Courtland Street; construction of the cap itself begins once funding allows. Officials say $50 million is secured to advance design and help set up a special assessment district.

Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals

The Stitch would create new public space and development sites between Midtown and downtown. A 2027 start on street work gives owners, brokers and employers near Peachtree, Courtland and Ralph McGill a first real date to plan around.
