Michael Jordan Gives $10 Million to UNC's School of Social Work in Honor of His Mother

Michael Jordan is donating $10 million to the School of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in honor of his mother, Deloris Jordan, according to Black Enterprise, which credits The News & Observer. Announced Oct. 5, it is the largest gift in the school's history, and a center at the school now carries her name. It comes 30 years after his 1996 gift helped establish the Jordan Institute for Families.

Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals

A reminder that legacy giving can be personal and specific: Jordan put his mother's name on the work she has supported for decades, a model for professionals thinking about how they give back.
