Kenya Barris Says He Went From a $100 Million Netflix Deal to BET for 50 Percent Ownership in a Studio

According to AfroTech, 'Black-ish' creator Kenya Barris said on the 'Rich Roll' podcast that BET could not match his Netflix pay but offered 50% ownership in a studio, and he took it. AfroTech notes that Variety reported his exclusive three-year, $100 million Netflix deal in 2018. "I want to do something for us," Barris said.
