The Prince Estate Releases Calabama, a Four-Track EP of Raw Vault Recordings
The Prince Estate and NPG Records released "Calabama," a four-track digital EP, on Friday, Oct. 9, EURweb reported. It includes "Calabama (Vault Raw)," the original recording made at Paisley Park on Jan. 21, 2003, without the horns added later, plus the version from the album "Timeless."
The other two tracks are titled "Prince And The Band." On the first, Prince performs every vocal and instrumental part. The second was recorded Aug. 22, 2006, with Maceo Parker on saxophone.
Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals
Prince's catalog still moves culture and money a decade on, and the estate's careful release of Vault material is a case study in managing a legacy brand.
