Chick-fil-A Says It Will Not Use AI to Take Drive-Thru Orders as Rivals Roll It Out

Chick-fil-A will not bring AI voice ordering to its drive-thrus, AfroTech reports, citing CEO Andrew Cathy's comments to CNBC. Cathy said the company wants its hospitality to stay human to human and will not substitute that interaction with technology. Taco Bell uses the technology at more than 890 U.S. restaurants, and McDonald's, Wendy's, Dairy Queen, Bojangles, KFC and Pizza Hut are also named as using it.

Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals

Chick-fil-A is headquartered in metro Atlanta, and its choice cuts against where most of the fast-food industry is heading. For business owners, it is a live case study in when to automate a customer touchpoint and when the human interaction is the product.
