Absent Days Fell 43 Percent at a Conyers School After Goodr Opened a Free Grocery Store

C.J. Hicks Elementary School in Conyers opened a free on-campus grocery store in fall 2025 with Atlanta-based Goodr and Kaiser Permanente. Since then, total absent days have fallen 43%, from 1,286 to 733, according to school records reported by FOX 5 Atlanta and Black Enterprise. Eighty families take groceries home each week. Goodr was founded by Jasmine Crowe-Houston.

Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals

Goodr is one of Atlanta's best-known Black-founded companies, and these numbers give employers, funders and school partners a concrete result to point to when they weigh community investments.
