Will Smith's Westbrook Studios Is Developing a Series on DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince

According to TheWrap, Westbrook Studios and The Malar Group are developing "215," a coming-of-age scripted series based on Will Smith's hip-hop rise and the formation of DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince in late-1980s West Philadelphia. It is the first project from the two companies' partnership. TheWrap's report did not name a network, writers or cast.

Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals

The Fresh Prince story is a shared reference point for the 25-44 crowd, and this version is being developed by the studio Will Smith founded, a reminder of how much leverage comes with owning your own story.
