Austin Riley’s Eighth-Inning Homer Lifts Braves Past Phillies 5-3 in Wild Card Game 1

The Braves beat the Phillies 5-3 in Game 1 of the best-of-three NL Wild Card Series on Tuesday at Truist Park, MLB.com reports. Austin Riley's three-run homer off closer Jhoan Duran with two outs in the eighth erased a 3-2 deficit after J.T. Realmuto's two-run triple in the seventh, and Chris Sale struck out nine. Game 2 is Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.

Why It Matters for Atlanta Professionals

A 2 p.m. Wednesday first pitch lands in the middle of the workday, so expect crowds around The Battery and plenty of distracted offices; one more win sends Atlanta to the NLDS.
